Title: The Importance of Independent Thinking
Focus: I will focus on the use of bias and propaganda to try and prevent the community from thinking differently. I will try and expand on this and explain why independent thinking and objectivism is important to individuals. I aim to explain the Titius and Gaius story to the problems Mark has with NICE. I will also use the Gulag Archipelago and explain Stalin’s reign in Russia. In my close reading, I can explain how Mark uses propaganda and in my other reading children’s textbooks can be used as propaganda.
Enthymeme Thesis: That Hideous Strength and The Abolition of Man showed the importance of independent thinking because humans do not want to risk ending up like individuals in Russia during Stalin’s reign, as shown in The Gulag Archipelago.

In this reading section the “inner circle” asks Mark to write propaganda about the disturbances at Edgestow. Mark knows this is wrong but continues to write the articles because he wants to please the inner circle. He doesn’t think independently and decide what is right for him. I can connect this to my overall thesis of the essay.

In this reading the story of Gaius and Titius is explained. I can use the discussion of children and how they should think about what they dislike and like. Rather than being taught this from school. This explains how independent thinking should start at a young age.
